Most kitchens are replaced long before they need to be.
A typical kitchen renovation can generate 1–2 tonnes of waste, much of which ends up in landfill — perfectly functional cabinets, materials and components removed simply to change the look.
At Kindroot, we believe there is a better way.
Our approach focuses on working with what already exists wherever possible, upgrading the visible and tactile elements of a kitchen — such as doors, panels, islands and finishes — rather than defaulting to full removal and replacement.
We prioritise:
Longevity over trends — materials and designs chosen to age well, not date quickly
Responsible material selection — favouring certified, durable and repairable materials
Modularity and adaptability — so kitchens can evolve over time, rather than be discarded
Reduced waste at source — by designing thoughtfully and avoiding unnecessary replacement
Where new materials are required, we select them carefully — considering not just appearance, but origin, durability, and how they can be reused, repaired or recycled at the end of their life.
We don’t believe sustainability is about perfection.
It’s about making fewer, better decisions — consistently.
Kindroot was created with the belief that businesses should be built to serve more than just growth.
From day one, we have designed Kindroot around the core principles of the B Corp framework — balancing purpose and profit, and considering the impact of our decisions on people, materials and the wider environment.
We operate in line with B-Corp standards by:
Making transparent, long-term decisions rather than short-term trade-offs
Prioritising responsible sourcing and supplier relationships
Designing products and services that reduce waste and extend product life
Treating clients, collaborators and makers with fairness and respect
As the business grows, we are working towards formal B-Corp certification, ensuring our policies, processes and impact measurement meet the required standards.
We’re open about where we are on that journey — and intentional about the direction we’re heading.
For us, B-Corp isn’t a badge.
It’s a framework for building a calmer, more responsible kitchen industry.
